FAQ about this website

Here, I’ll try to answer some questions you guys might have about this project. More will be added as they come up.

This is an unofficial fan translation project, done out of loyalty to the SaGa Series. The translator is unaffiliated with Square-Enix or any of its staff members. Images and materials used here are copyrighted to their respective owners.

Q: What happened to the other website?

A: After getting frustrated with interfaces and policy changes, it was time to move shop. Things might be a bit borked from the move and still reference the old website, but at least I have more freedom with the formatting.

The main part of the website is named after Leith Torles' Tower from Unlimited: SaGa since I plan on convering extra lore from the Kaitaishinsho in the future and the theme comfortably fits other content that might be added.

Q: So, what's all this then?

A: This website features an unofficial translation of SaGa Frontier 2 Perfect Works, a companion book to the game published in 1999. It explains a lot of the background lore of the World of Sandail, everything from the politics of the Merchmin region, details about the main cities, and lots of character information that was never mentioned in the game. Time willing, content from other related books may be added.

As such, this site is not intended to be a general walkthrough for the game. The content here is chock full of spoilers regarding the lore of the game and it is not recommended for viewing until finishing the game or at least reaching the end-game scenarios.

Q: Is there a regular update schedule?

A: No. Updates will be made when they happen.

Q: What happened to X character in Y scenario?

A: Sorry, but I won’t be responding to individual questions about the lore or presenting any sort of overall plot analysis outside of what is contained within the book. Mystery is at the core of the SaGa Frontier 2 narrative and I want to preserve that sense of discovery. My intention here is to present Perfect Works as is without any extra analysis of the information contained within.

Q: But what about G—

A: Patience. All will be revealed in due time.

Q: There are some scenarios missing from the Scenario page?

A: Look harder.

Q: Weren’t there other teams translating Perfect Works?

A: Yes, I am aware of other attempts to translate Perfect Works, but from what I can tell, they are no longer active. There have also been forum threads offering a Q and A style translation of the book. I am not associated with any of them.

My intention with this project is to present a direct translation of the original text. Perfect Works is written like a history textbook and intentionally leaves some events vague and up to player interpretation. I want to preserve the original tone of the book, so again, I will not be offering any extra analysis aside from what is contained within the original text.

Q: No, really. What happened to Gustave?

A: That's up to your interpretation.

Q: I want to support this project! Can I donate some money via PayPal?

A: I really appreciate the offer, but I won’t be accepting donations for this translation project in any shape or form. Instead, please consider purchasing the original source materials when they are (eventually?) re-released.

Q: Is there any other way I could help out? Maybe help with the translation?

A: Again, I appreciate the offer, but for the sake of consistency, I would prefer to keep working solo as far as translation is concerned.

Q: Hey, aren’t you the one who did the unofficial translation of Essence?

A: Yep, that’s me. As much as I love SaGa Frontier 1, my heart has always been with SaGa Frontier 2. I’d been wanting to tackle Perfect Works for a long time, so here we are.

Q: There’s a typo here! / These terms don’t match! / This link doesn’t work!

A: First, please check my Translator’s Notes first to see if the changes were made intentionally. Otherwise, whoops! My bad. Either I'll spot them eventually or keep an eye out for a new contact form.
