Various factions have carved their way into the history of Sandail. There are many forms of government with complex interactions. Here, we will take into account each of the ruling powers in Sandail, their form of government, and the historical background of the region.

Northern Continent

The Northern Continent prevented humans from progressing further into the land and no major settlements appeared until after the rise of Tool Culture. As technology advanced in conjunction with the human yearning for exploring new frontiers, it was viewed as undiscovered land to be cultivated. However, the Northern Continent continues to be inhospitable and no major countries or political powers have been established there.

Southern Continent

The Southern Continent was the birthplace of humankind where societies evolved along with their tools. The region was always the locus of human culture for a long time until the appearance of Quells. Afterwards, the influence of Quells from the Eastern Continent brought about new forces and caused societal restructuring. In the present, the Country of Na and its many surrounding nations make up the new Empire.

Eastern Continent

The Eastern Continent is comprised of Merchmin, Lordless Land, the Grand Teille, and Weissland—all regions which benefitted from the power of Quells. Each region gave rise to a different structure of government. Many small countries stand together in Merchmin. The Empire was established in what is now Lordless Land. Present day Grand Teille is mostly uninhabited, but many tribes have established strong ties with the monarchy there.
